The Green Bay Press Gazette covered Center for Election Confidence’s (CEC) public comment at today’s quarterly meeting of the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) regarding the on-going “extra ballot” issues in Green Bay. Following CEC’s letter to the City of Green Bay and its comments at the WEC meeting, WEC voted to open an investigation, and the City of Green Bay announced that the city’s clerk “had been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation and an internal review”.
The Press Gazette‘s reporting notes that CEC’s efforts to secure elections for Green Bay voters led to the decisions by WEC and the City of Green Bay: “Caleb Hays, chief policy counsel for the Center for Election Confidence, brought up the June duplicate ballot incident as evidence of a ‘pattern’ that required an investigation.” The article explains that WEC authorized the investigation “with commissioners expressing concern that the incident had happened twice, within weeks of each other.”
In all, at least 352 extra ballots were mailed to Green Bay voters who requested an absentee ballot for the April or August 2026 primary elections.
