WHBY-FM (Green Bay, Wisc.) covered Center for Election Confidence’s (CEC) letter to the Green Bay Common Council raising concerns about the City Clerk’s office after another duplicate absentee-ballot issue in Green Bay. The report notes that CEC’s letter inquired about the Council’s oversight of the City Clerk’s office. CEC has also offered its assistance to the Council with respect to developing a viable path forward.
WHBY highlighted comments from CEC Chief Policy Counsel Caleb Hays, who explained that the recurrence of a similar issue after the spring election is especially concerning.

According to WHBY, Green Bay officials reported that duplicate absentee ballots for the August primary were mailed to residents in eight wards, and City Clerk Celestine Jeffreys issued a written statement describing the problem as a “printing error.”
CEC continues to urge Green Bay officials to take the matter seriously, to conduct an independent review, and to implement visible reforms to restore confidence in the City’s election administration.
